A Little Bit About Ed

Ed Bodybuilding

With a love and passion for Strength and Power that started in 1977 and still burns strong in him today.  Ed is a Champion Strength Athlete turned Strength and Power Coach. 

He fully understands what proper strength and power training can do since it was through strength and power training that he transformed himself from what he describes as “last picked for recess to an elite strength athlete”.  

His career in The Iron Game began as a Weightlifter and Thrower in High School but in the Army he became fascinated with the sport of Powerlifting and began his competitive career when he got our of the Army in 1985 and moved to Corpus Christi Texas to train under National and World Champion Rick Gaugler.  Ed has been sponsored by Titan Support Systems since 1985 and that sponsorship continues today.


Recognized as a world leader in the Physical Development Strength and Power Athletes and through his company PowerSport Strength and Conditioning he consults and conducts seminars and work shops all over the world.   

With coaching stops with the San Antonio Riders of the World League of American Football and at University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned undergraduate degrees in Kinesiology and Philosophy. He was also the first strength and conditioning coach in school’s history while he was working towards his degrees. 

He was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Baylor University where he worked on his graduate degree in Human Performance. From 1999-2003 he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the San Antonio Spurs where he was part of 2 NBA Championships. He has interned at training camps for the Houston Oilers, North Melbourne Kangaroos (Aussie Rules Football) and with the Super Rugby Champion Crusaders wider training camp in Christchurch New Zealand, his time spent with the Crusaders. 

Ed has coached Olympians, Professional Athletes, National team members as well as numerous high school and college athletes including 14 high school All Americans and 6 NCAA All Americans. 

One of his biggest achievements in coaching has come from his work with Ben and Owen Franks from the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup Champion New Zealand All Blacks Rugby. 

Personally, he has won numerous Championships in Powerlifting, Strongman and in Scottish Heavy Athletics at the Junior. Senior and Masters levels and has totaled Elite in 3 weight classes in Powerlifting.
